We encourage each member of our congregation to find a ministry where your talents can be used to serve others. Whatever your gift, people’s lives will be changed by your sharing. Each year members are asked to complete a Time & Talent Survey to let the church leadership know how you would like to share your unique gifts or training in the mission and ministries of Christ Lutheran.
Time & Talents
SERVE IN WORSHIP.
During worship there are many opportunities to be involved in the service. The Altar Guild works each week to clean, adorn and prepare God’s house for worship. Scripture readers, acolytes and communion assistants help the pastor perform the service. Greeters and ushers welcome guests and provide directions during worship. A sound tech manages the sanctuary sound system and recorded music.
Musical talents are especially appreciated during worship as music is a primary feature of each service. A few of the many opportunities to perform during worship include special programs and instrument and vocal numbers.
SERVE IN FELLOWSHIP.
Lutherans are known for our delicious potluck dinners! Countless times through the year, members of our congregation cook meals, bake cookies and pies, prepare funeral dinners and deliver food to those who can’t leave their homes.
The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) is a group open to all women who attend Christ Lutheran. The group meets once a month for devotions and bible study. They also meet regularly for quilting and handwork, the results of which are beautiful quilts that are donated or auctioned. WELCA also arranges special speakers for the community and make financial donations to local causes.
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men. . .
EPHESIANS 6:7
SERVE IN LEADERSHIP.
The primary leadership for Christ Lutheran comes from the members of our Church Council. Members are nominated and elected for three-year terms on the eight-member council. The council meets once a month to conduct the business of the church including managing the property, preparing a budget, planning events and much more.
Additional opportunities to be a leader in the church are available through a variety of committees. Examples include membership, stewardship, education, property, endowment.
SERVE IN STEWARDSHIP.
As stewards of the church, we work to share God’s word with our fellow members and with our community as a whole. We do this by promoting the church and events in the community and providing opportunities to learn and educate. Behind the scenes many hands type, write, print and copy, sort, cut, fold, take pictures, and answer phones.
Teachers, discussion leaders, mentors, and helpers are always needed to help our members young and old grow in faith relationships with God and each other.
