Dear Friends in Christ,
Prayer has become more important to me since the onset of COVID. Now that I’m battling Cancer, it has become even more important, Still, there is something that needs to be said about all of this. A few weeks ago, I was in town and getting a bit of a late start Sunday morning going to Upper Fall River. Long story short, I was pulled over for driving 42 in a 30 speed zone. Totally my fault. But someone went and paid my fine. I don’t know who did it and this is my way of saying THANK YOU to them.
Last Sunday, I missed the Worship at Upper Fall River. My Cancer treatments have played havoc with my sleep cycle. For this, I APOLOGIZE. It will not happen again.
Now the reason I’m telling you all of this is not because I’m somebody special. It isn’t because I’m a pastor. I tell you all of this because simple and straight-forward things we do like saying THANK YOU and PRAYING and APOLOGIZING are things that we need to have readily available in our own spiritual toolboxes. They are simple, yes, but they are not always easy. Putting them to needed use can make all the difference. Having the love and the desire in our hearts is where we need to start. I’m all in favor of us dealing honestly with our own problems— even while we search for an answer. But, I do know, that honest, straight-forward prayer, asking God’s help, is a wonder all it’s own.
