Dear Friends in Christ,
Here we are in Lent and March is right around the corner. Lent, we follow Jesus on His journey to the cross. That very cross where He willingly laid down His life so that we may live. Lent is a serious time in the Church year. It is serious and somber. This is the time when Jesus knew that He only had a short time in which to accomplish what He had been sent here to do, for us, by God. A short time in which to teach His disciples how to carry on His mission without Him. A short time to teach them how to carry on His ministry. Telling others about the love of God for each of them. Explaining, or rather trying to explain, to prepare them for what was to come. The very reason that God had sent Him.
It is easy for us to read the stories about Jesus’ ministry while He was alive and walked this same earth. His trial, His crucifixion, His death, burial, and His resurrection. It happened so long ago. We were not personally there to touch, and to feel our Lord. We were not able to see the expressions that came upon His face when He was happy, angry, or mourning the loss of a friend. We were not able to hear the lowering and the raising of His voice. The change in the pitches of His voice.
We still benefit from everything He did. Whether we walked with Him during the time when He was alive or not, it was still done for each of us. His words, accomplishments, and His actions can still keep us focused. His love for us is not any less than it was for His disciples or family. So during this season of Lent, let us truly focus on His words and know that they were fully meant for us here today. His love and sacrifices were for each one of us.
God’s Blessings to each and every one of you.
