Does anyone else feel like this year is just flying by, or is it just me? Maybe I should just forget about it and let God guide me through each and every day. Some days that is quite easy to do isn’t it? Other days, not so much. What’s the old saying, “turn loose and let go?” I say turn it over to God. His will, not ours. Right now in the Church year it is a quiet time. There are no festivals, nothing to really celebrate. Easter season, Holy Trinity and Pentecost have come and gone. So we can relax. Right? Maybe the church year has gotten quiet but this is the busy time of year for families.
Summer vacation from school for the kiddos. The kids hopefully are enjoying their break from school while the parents are trying to keep up with them. There are swimming lessons, vacations, 4-H projects to get started on and finish before the county fair. Some may make it to the State Fair. We hope they do. What an experience for the children.
Harvest season has begun. Whether in the fields or personal gardens. So while our lives gear up for the summer the church slows down. It may not seem very festive or active but, I believe that in this slow time for the church, it also allows us time to reflect on the scriptures. To be able to focus on our relationship with God. The God who loves us unconditionally. The God who provides all the abundant sunshine for the crops, gardens and the flowers for our enjoyment. It is a time for us to stop and give thanks to God for all that He has provided for us and all that He continually provides for our nourishment. Not only the nourishment for our bodies but the beauty that He provides for our soul. God provides not only the scripture for us to read but everything that we need to make our lives comfortable and enjoyable.
So as the church year slows down, may we also slow down enough to enjoy the majesty of all He has created for our sustenance. For our minds and our bodies. May we take the time to re-evaluate the relationship that we have with our Heavenly Father.
Peace and blessings to you all, Pastor Sue Ellen
